Finally the work on Delfini is in the final stages. Last week Gerry travelled to Holland with another load of our personal stuff. The journey was early ferry Dublin to Holyhead then drive to Hull for overnight ferry to Rotterdam and then on to Haarlem. Ronnie Byrne who owns barge 72M travelled with Gerry as Geraldine had to work.I think the high point for him was a visit to a barge breakers yard at Haarlem. The selection of Engines and other spares was massive. Ronnie even managed to pick up an anchor for his own barge.
On return we were invited on Ye Iron Lung owned by Andy & Claire Fitzsimons to take part on a trip on the newly restored Royal Canal organised by the Heritage Boat Association. This is likely to be our last cruise on Irish waterways before we move on to Delfini on a more permanent basis next month.
I have to compliment Stefan from  Jachtservice Haarlem and  Tim from Tiekstra Scheepselektra on the excellent work they have carried out on Delfini. I will publish photos of their work on my next post
